Women's History New York Map

Spanning New York City’s five boroughs, this map highlights sites that honor women who have shaped its history—from early settlers and suffragists to artists, reformers and activists. Researched and written by Allison C. Meier with original photography by Anna Morgowicz, it traces the contributions of women whose work and courage helped build, challenge and transform the city we know today.

From monuments to Harriet Tubman and Eleanor Roosevelt to lesser-known landmarks embedded in the urban fabric, the Women’s History New York Map offers a new way to explore the city through its architecture, public art and historic sites. Covering Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island, it reveals stories often overlooked in traditional narratives of New York.
